Roads End State Park Lincoln City Oregon

Lincoln City Oregon is known for its "finders' keepers" program. On the beach every day they place glass floats along the beach and if you find one you get to keep it hence the name finders' keepers. During the year they place over 3,000 glass floats along the beach from Roads End on the north to Siletz Bay on the south. In addition to the floats placed on the beach daily, they place extra floats on the beach for holidays and special occasions. These are the glass floats that can be found along the beach here.

I spent the day on the beach looking for a glass float and have done this numerous times in the past. Still no luck but I'll keep trying. It was a nice five-mile hike just walking around and I even found some agates on the beach.

The hike along the beach is pretty flat and very family friendly. I wouldn't recommend a stroller unless you want to push it through the sand.

There are places along the beach where you can find all sorts of interesting things. I loved this rock with all of the barnacles on it.

The best time to come here is shortly after a storm and you can find all sorts of shells and various rocks like the agate.

The views of the ocean are just breathtaking!!

Lincoln City is a lot more relaxing than the other Oregon Coastal Towns, it's not as touristy. The beach is always a good place to go, and I would also recommend the Lincoln City Glass Center.

At the glass center you can take a lession and learn how to make the glass floats. They even let you keep the one you make. If you don't want to learn how to do this there is also a shop that sells all sort of glass items including the floats within the same building.

The Oregon Coast is part of the Pacific Coast Highway, Route 101 and I have taken it around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington all the way down to San Francisco. It is beautiful and I would recommend doing this road trip if you have time. I have to warn you in advance. From Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend is tourist season. This means that you will be traveling 15 mph in a 45 mile per hour zone because of everyone looking around and not paying attention. I wonder how much it would cost to pay...... attention. LOL
